Monument record MDO41602 - Post medieval trackways, Corfe Hills, Corfe Mullen

Ditched linear features on open ground at Corfe Hills, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are presumed to be historic trackways of probable post medieval date. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Ditched linear features on open ground at Corfe Hills, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise several sections of parallel linear ditch set closely together on a broadly N-S alignment on an area of open ground recorded as enclosed former heathland (probable pasture) on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The features are presumed to be historic trackways of probable post medieval date.

The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
