Full Description
A small irregular depression on open ground at Corfe Mullen is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature comprises an irregular ditched depression 7m long by 4.5m wide. An irregular strip of denuded or scarred ground extends from the northwest side of the feature, possibly caused by erosion processes but possibly the result of blast activity. The feature may be a Second World War bomb crater or a small post medieval extractive pit.
The site is now a domestic garden within a modern housing estate on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
