Full Description
A small post medieval extractive pit at Corfe Mullen is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature is 30.6m long by 18m wide and is situated on the south side of a post medieval field boundary recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2) on what was still open rough ground 1946; the boundary marked the south side of housing and gardens by 1946 (1).
The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
