Full Description
A ditched linear feature at Corfe Mullen, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature extends south from the north corner of a small triangular enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map. Positioned with a road on either side, the southern boundary of this small enclosure is likely to be post medieval in date; the pattern of surrounding historic enclosure suggested by the Os 1st Edition map indicates thie site may have lain on the edge or just outside of an area of medieval enclosure (3).
The feature is indistinct but may be a historic field boundary or trackway of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible..
The site is a modern cemetery on current Google Earth imagery and the feature I no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
