Full Description
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation marks to the southeast of Little Manor Farm, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise parallel ridges and ditches, very regular and straight in forma nd set approximately 5m apart with 1.2m wide ditches in between. They occupy a rectilinear historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose regular boundaries are likely to be post medieval in origin; probably intake from the rough ground to the east (2).
The features are considered ikely to be those of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow, possibly the result of late 19th Century steam ploughing.
The site is under trees on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
