Full Description
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation marks to the east of East End Farm, Corfe Mullen, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise regular parallel ridges set close together at approximately 4m apart with 1m wide ditches in between. They occupy the southern majority of an irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose sinuous boundaries are likely to be medieval in origin (2).
The character of the features indicates probable post medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
