Summary

A gravel pit is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition map to the north-west of Blunt's Farm. A large circular banked feature is visible at this location on aerial photographs taken in 1946 which is considered likely to be spoil associated with the gravel workings. The site was destroyed in the 1980's by the construction of the Ferdown By-pass, it was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.

Full Description

A gravel pit is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition map to the north-west of Blunt's Farm (1). A large circular banked feature is visible at this location on aerial photographs taken in 1946 which is considered likely to be spoil associated with the gravel workings (2). The site was destroyed in the 1980's by the construction of the Ferdown By-pass, it was digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
