Full Description
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation marks at Corfe Mullen is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise regular parallel ridges set close together at approximately 3.5m apart with 1m wide ditches in between. They occupy the southeastern half of a narrow irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose sinuous boundaries are likely to be medieval in origin (2).
The features are presumed to be those of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
