Full Description
An area of narrow ridged and ditched cultivation to the southeast of Cowgrove Farm, Pamphill, is visible on aerial photographs (1-3).
The features comprise regular parallel ridges set approximately 3m apart with 1.2m wide ditches in between. They occupy the whole of a small irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose predominantly curvilinear boundaries are likely to be medieval in origin, with the northwestern boundary likely to be a post medieval addition (4). The form and character of the features suggest probable post medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The site is under trees on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
