Full Description

Ditched and banked linear features to the northeast of Corfe Mullen are visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-3).

The features comprise sections of narrow linear ditches and banks located across a number of post medieval to modern fields and all aligned on the same southeast to northwest axis.Towards the southeast of the group a series of adjoined linear ditches form two small partial enclosures which border on, or link into, a stream or drainage channel running along their southern end. There are further interlinking ditched linears to the east of these. The majority of features clearly link into adjacent historic drainage channels and/or streams present on the OS 1st Edition map (4).

The features are considered likely to be post medieval drainage ditches.

The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery. The features are stll faintly visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
