Full Description
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation marks at Corfe Mullen are visible on aerial photographs (1).
The features occupy part of a wide strip of land bordering the southeast bank of the River Stour and are located immediately west of Court Farm. They are bounded on their west side by a scarped linear boundary, probably a historic field boundary of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is always possible. The straight parallel ridges are set approximately 4m apart with a 1.5m wide ditch in between and are considered likely to be cultivation marks associated with post medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
