Full Description

Linear ditched and banked features to the east of Henbury House are visible on aerial photographs (1-2).

The features comprises sections of curvilinear banks, predominantly narrow in form but with one broader bank visible as a cropmark and also as an earthwork on current Lidar imagery (3). The slightly sinuous nature of the features suggests historic field boundaries of possible medieval date, although a later origin is also possible. The ditched linear in the south of the group closely respects a banked linear to the north and may also be part of the field boundary. However, it is visible as a cropmark extending further to the west, where it appears to overlie a possible medieval hollow way and post medieval extractive pit (MDOs 41465 and 41466). It is possible this feature may alternatively be a post medieval trackway.

The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery although the features are not visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
