Summary

An irrregular ditched hollow in the parkland east of Henbury House, Sturminster Marshall, is visible on current Lidar imagery. The feature is presumed to be a post medieval extractive pit; it is recorded as 'square pit' on the OS 1st Edition map. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

An irrregular ditched hollow in the parkland east of Henbury House, Sturminster Marshall, is visible on current Lidar imagery (1).

The feature comprises a shallow sub-square irregular depression up to 55m long by up to 70.5m wide.

The feature is presumed to be a post medieval extractive pit; it is recorded as 'square pit' on the OS 1st Edition map.

The feature was digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
