Full Description
An extensive area of settlement existed to the south and south-east of the parish church, where house platforms, lynchets and a trackway can be discerned. Although damaged by a later fishpond (ST 72 SE 13), the house platforms are particulary marked below the fishpond running north-south across the contour of the shape continuing downhill beyond the present field boundary flanked on the north by the modern road, Church Street and on the South by the trackway. Other indeterminate platforms lie to the East of Manor Farm. Large quantities of C13th pottery were recovered from a limited excavation. <1>
