Summary

The suggestion of a partial ring ditch to the southwest of Parley Court Farm,West Parley, is visible as cropmarks on 1940s aerial photographs. Confidence is low but the feature may be late prehistoric in origin, possibly a Bronze Age barrow; it is similar to a further feature (MDO1408) situated 9m to the southwest that is more clearly visible as a cropmark. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

The suggestion of a partial ring ditch to the southwest of Parley Court Farm,West Parley, is visible as cropmarks on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature appears to comprise several short segments of 0.5m wide ditch, possibly parts of a ring ditch approximately 18m in diameter.

Confidence is low but the feature may be late prehistoric in origin, possibly a Bronze Age barrow; it is similar to a further feature (MDO1408) situated 9m to the southwest that is more clearly visible as a cropmark.

The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery but the feature is not visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
