Full Description
An irregular linear scarped and ditched feature to the northeast of Kinson Manor Farm is visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The feature comprises a shallow irregular 310m long scarp along the south bank of the River Stour to the northeast of Kinson Manor Farm. Between the scarped edge and the riverbank at least one linear ditch is also visible on current Lidar imagery (1). The feature is presumed to be a post medieval gravel pit, probably associated with the extraction of river gravels.
The site is still fields on current Google Earth imagery, where the feature is still visible. It was digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
