Full Description

A ditched curvilinear feature at Longham is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature follows the outward curve of a small neck of land on the north bank of the Rive Stour. At its northwest end it adjoins the end of a historic trackway recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2).

The feature is also presumed to be a historic trackway of probable post medieval origin.

The site is under trees on Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible, although there is a suggestion of the feature on current Lidar imagery (3). The feature was digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
