Full Description
Areas of ridged and ditched cultivation marks at Longham are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise two rectilinear areas of parallel ridges and ditches revealed by waterlogged soils (1). The ridges are close set and parallel, around 4m apart with 1m wide ditches in between. The features are bordered to the west by a probable post medieval field boundary/drainage ditch (MDO41336) and the northernmost area is also bounded on its east side by a regular historic field boundary of probable post medieval date (1).
The features may be those of post medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The site is part of Dudsbury Golf Course on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
