Full Description
A ditched curvilinear feature at Longham is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature is broad and curvilinear in form and it sub-divides a small irregular enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose irregular curvilinear field boudnaries may be medieval in origin (2). The feature may also be a historic field boundary, possibly of medieval origin. Alternatively it may be a historic trackway, more likely to be post medieval in date.
The site is still field on current Google Earth imagery but with fairly recent modification. The feature was still visible on Google Earth 2005 and 2007 but is no longer visible by 2017 (2). It was digitally plotted from 1940s aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
