Summary

A ditched hollow feature on Poor Common is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery. The feature is recorded as 'Old Clay Pit' on the OS 1st Edition map; the extent of the feature on current Lidar imagery indicates additional extraction may have taken place post late 19th Century, however. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A ditched hollow feature on Poor Common is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1 and 2).

The feature comprises an irregular hollow 104.3m long by up to 85m wide. It is recorded as 'Old Clay Pit' on the OS 1st Edition map; the extent of the feature on current Lidar imagery indicates additional extraction may have taken place post late 19th Century, however.

The feature was digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
