Full Description
A series of ditched linear features to the southeast of Little Moors Farmare visible as cropmarks on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprises narrow rectilinear and curvilinear sections of ditch, some running broadly parallel to each other across a field adjacentt to Little Moors Farm on a northwest to southeast axis. Additional linears run crosswise to these parallel lines on to the northeast and southwest.
The features are considered likely to be historic trackways of possible post medieval agricultural origin. Additional linear and curvilinear ditched features within the same field, however, are also visible on 1940s aerial photographs and whilst these may be modern agricultural marks they may alternatively be field boundaries and enclosures of late prehistoric origin (MDO41289). The possible trackways appear to overlie these more curvilinear features, suggesting they are later in date, but it is possible the features include elements of earlier origin.
The site is still arable fields on current Google Earth imagery but the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
