Full Description

Banked linear features to the west of Hampreston are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).

The features comprise narrow rectilinear banks situatd within a large irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The south ends of both features correspond with doglegged corners along the southern field boundary, extending north from these; the easternmost feature corresponds with a short row of trees recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, which suggests part of a former historic field boundary (2).

The features are considered likely to be historic field boundaries of possible post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible.

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
