Summary

Ditched linear features to the southeast of Hampreston are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are presumed to be post medieval drainage ditches. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Ditched linear features to the southeast of Hampreston are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).

The features are narrow and rectilinear in form and are situated along a narrow strip of ground between a large post medieval drainage channel and a curvilinear historic field boundary, both recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The features are presumed to be post medieval drainage ditches.

The site is still fields on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still faintly visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
