Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features to the northeast of Bear Wood are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features are narrow and rectilinear in form and sub-divide small rectilinear fields of regular character; probably reflective of post medieval enclosure, although an earlier origin is possible. The features are marked by rows of trees on the OS 1st Edition map and are presumed to be historic field boundaries, also of probable post medieval date.
The site is still open ground on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
