Full Description
Linear earthwork visible on aerial photographs taken in the late 1940s. Running roughly parallel with other similar dykes in the area.
The feature is visible as a southwest-northeast aligned section of broken linear earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1, 2]. The feature is clearest in a 60m section located between two intersecting roads but appears to continue northeastwards, and likely southwestwards, either side of these, although the earthworks here are very faint. Two parallel narrow linear banks visible on lidar imagery may be a continuation of this feature southwards, but this is not certain as they are very regular in form and they may be later features [3]. Overall, the earthworks potentially extend for just over 825m. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.
