Full Description
A small semi-circular banked feature on the southwest side of Broadstone Golf Course is visible on aerial photographs (1).
The feature is 6.5m long by 5.8m deep and is similar in form to numerous other such features dispersed across Canford and Knighton Heaths. It may be a small dugout or weapons pit of early 20th Century military origin, possibly associated with a wider wartime military training area.
The site is still part of Broadstone Golf Course on current Google Earth imagery but under scrub; the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
