Full Description
A banked linear feature on Canford Heath is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1). The feature is presumed to be a historic field boundary of possible post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible.
The feature comprises a low narrow bank, slightly sinuous in form, 225m in length and running from northwest to southeast between two sections of vehicular trackway. It is presumed to be a historic field boundary of possible post medieval date, although its sinuous character may indicate that an earlier origin is also possible.
The site is still open heath but under scrubby vegetation on current Google Earth imagery. The feature is still visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
