Full Description
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation marks to the south of Broadstone are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise parallel ridges around 4m apart with 1m wide ditches in betweeen. The features are situated on the west side of a large historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2); cultivation marks extending across the whole of this enclosure are visible in 1946 but those in the eastern part are wider set and more modern in form than those in the west.
The form of the features, regular and narrow set ridges and ditches, suggests possible post medieval narrow ridge and furrow.
The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery. The features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
