Full Description
Multiple series of ditched linear trackways on Canford Heath are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1-2).
The features comprise multiple ditched linears of various lengths that run parallel to each other or at converging angles. The majority of these features are presumed to be post medieval in date, some possibly being associated with areas of extensive post medieval extraction. Others may be later in origin, possibly, but not necessarily exclusively, associated with military activity during the two World Wars.
The majority of features are now under trees cover or under areas of modern housing development on current Google Earth imagery and are no longer visible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
