Full Description
Banked linear features on the open heath of Dunyeat's Hill are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features are located on open heath where adjacent historic boundaries as recorded on the OS 1st Edition map are straight and regular, indicating a probable post medieval origin (2). The features respect one of these historic field boundaries to the north and another to the west which is not shown on the OS 1st Edition map and may be of early 20th century date. The features form a broken line of enclosure and are crossed in places by probable post medieval trackways. They are considered likely to be historic field boundaries of possible post medieval to perhaps early 20th century date.
The majority of the site is still open heath on current Google Earth imagery, with some encroachment of housing development to the west. The features are still faintly visible on the open ground. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
