Full Description
A cluster of small sub-circular pits on Dunyeat's Hill are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise a loosely grouped cluster of around half a dozen small pits of sub-circular and sub-oval form, around 4m long and between 2m and 4mwide. The features are considered likely to be small post medieval extractive pits but it is also possible these are military in origin, possibly foxholes or weapons pits associated with wartime military training on the heath.
The site is open heath on current Google Earth imagery. The features are still visible in places. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
