Full Description
Banked linear features on Canford Heath are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features are narrow and rectilinear in form and are presumed to be historic field boundaries. They are probably post medieval to perhaps early 20th century in date, although they are on a different alignment to both the historic and current field patterns as indicated on the OS 1st Edition map and on current OS mapping (2). They are also cut by modern trackways present in 1945 and still featured on current OS mapping and Google Earth imagery (1).
The site is still open heath on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still faintly visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
