Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit on Knighton Heath is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The feature is sub-square in shape, measuring around 46.8m long by 38.7m wide.
The heathland on which the features are situated in 1945 (part of Knighton Heath) is typically scarred by widescale post medieval extraction, which is characteristically shallow but with some areas of deeper extraction also present;this pit appears to be one of the relatively deep pits.
The site is developed as housing on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
