Full Description
A post medieval to early 20th century extractive pit on the north side of Canford Heath is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2)
The feature comprises an irregular scarped depression up to 245m long by up to 147m wide. Ther is also an additional area of extraction 62m long by 22m wide to the east of the main pit, and accessed from this (2).
The site is under made-up ground on current Google Earth imagery, with a large modern quarry to the south. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
