Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features on Broadstone Golf Course are visible on aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features comprise short length of narrow rectilinear and curvilinear banks and ditches that form a series of partial enclosures, some more regular in form, others irregular, with none complete; some features were probably truncated by the construction of the railway line to the southeast. Some of the features respect or align with adjacent historic field boundaries recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3).
The features are presumed to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is still part of Broadstone Golf Course on current Google Earth imagery and some features remain visible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
