Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features at Merley are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1 and 2).
The features are narrow and rectilinear in form; the ditched linear has a slightly more sinuous character. They are considered likely to be historic field boundaries of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.
The site is partially developed land and partially school playing field on current Google Earth imagery . The banked linear is still visible within the playing field. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
