Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features to the north of Leigh Road, Wimborne Minster, are visible on aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise a series of ditched and banked linears that traverse a large area of open ground on the north side of Leigh Road. Two banked rectilinear features in the centre of the group align east to west across the open area of ground and clearly post-date a historic field boundary recorded on the OS 1st Edition map but out of use by 1946 (1 and 2).
The features are presumed to typically be historic trackways of probable post medieval date, although the two banked rectilinear features may alternatively be post medieval to early 20th century field boundaries.
The site is developed as hsouing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
