Summary

A line of anti tank cubes on the northeast side of Poole Road, Wimborne Minster, is visible on 1940's aerial photographs. The features may have formed part of a wartime defence line; additional rows of anti tank cubes are visible to the west, north, east and southeast. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A line of anti tank cubes on the northeast side of Poole Road, Wimborne Minster, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise a 30m row of anti tank cubes positioned on the northeast side of poole Road, forming a defensive line across a neck of open ground on the east side of the River Stour between the backlines of housing plots.

The features may be part of a wartime defence line around Wimborne Minster ; additional rows of anti tank cubes are visible on 1940s aerial photographs to the west, north, east and southeast (see MDOs 41027-9 and 41031-3)

The site is a modern car park on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
