Monument record MDO41028 - Modern anti tank cubes, East Borough, Wimborne Minster

A line of anti tank cubes on the east side of East Borough, Wimborne Minster, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are positioned on the southwest side of an area of open ground adjacent to the River Allen, along the backline of housing and plots on East Borough. The features may have formed part of a wartime defence line; additional rows of anti tank cubes are visible to the west and southeast. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

A line of anti tank cubes on the east side of East Borough, Wimborne Minster, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features are positioned on the southwest side of an area of open ground adjacent to the River Allen, forming a continuous defensive line along the backline of housing and plots on East Borough, between the road and the river.

The features may have formed part of a wartime defence line; additional rows of anti tank cubes are visible to the west and southeast (see MDOs 41027 and 41029-41033)

The site is now under the grounds of Allendale School on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
