Summary

A ditched curvilinear feature on the Leaze, Wimborne Minster, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Lidar imagery. The feature is presumed to be a post medieval trackway. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A ditched curvilinear feature on the Leaze, Wimborne Minster, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Lidar imagery (1 and 2).

The feature extends from the northwest corner of a historic enclosure recorded on the south side of Julian's Road on the Os 1st Edition map. It runs southeast across to the opposite corner of the enclosure and continues southeast to cross over the northwest end of the earthworks of a deserted medieval settlement (MDO6243) to a pond at the centre of the earthworks, also recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3).

The feature is presumed to be a post medieval trackway.

It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
