Full Description
A small sub-circular ditched feature on the Leaze, Wimborne Minster, is visible on aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1 and 2).
The feature measure 17.5m by 20m. It is located on the north side of a historic field boundary recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, whose curvilinear form suggests a potentially medieval origin (2). The feature appears to cut the field boundary, indicating that it post-dates it.
The feature may be a small extractive pit, possibly a gravel pit, of potentially post medieval origin.
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
