Summary

A shallow irregular depression to the south of Woodcutts Farm is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature may be a post medieval extractive pit. In 1947 the depression is occupied by a roofed building, also recorded on the OS 1st Edition map. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A shallow irregular depression to the south of Woodcutts Farm is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature is 36m by 37m. In 1947 a roofed building is visible within the feature adjacent to its north side. A building and adjacent yards or enclosures is recorded at this location on the OS 1st Edition map (2).

The form of the feature suggests a possible post medieval extractive pit.

A shallow depression is still visible at this location on current Google Earth imagery. The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
