Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features at Gree Farm are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise a series of narrow curvilinear ditches that traverse a number of irregular historic enclosures recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, and whose curvilinear boundaries indicate a possible medieval origin (2). Green Farm is situated at the epicentre of these features, which are quite deeply incised and clear in 1947 (1). The features are presumed to be post medieval trackways, although some features may alternatively be historic field boundaries of potentially medieval origin.
The site is still fields on current Google Earth imagery and some features remain faintly visible. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
