Summary

A shallow sub-oval depressions in a field to the southwest of what is now Rosedale Farm is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is recorded as a sub-oval enclosure on the OS 1st Edition map, possibly reflecting a small post medieval extractive pit, or a medieval to post medieval pond? The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A shallow sub-oval depressions in a field to the southwest of what is now Rosedale Farm is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The feature is 24m by 13.4m and is recorded as a sub-oval enclosure on the OS 1st Edition map (2). It may be a small post medieval extractive pit, or a medieval to post medieval pond?

The site is developed as housing and industrial premises on current Google Earth imagery. The feature may be incorporated into a larger pond. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
