Full Description
Ditched linear features to the north of Glen Farm (formerly Organ Lawn) are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise short east to west aligned ditches offsetting a central curvilinear drainage channelrecorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The channel runs from north to south along the centre of several small rectilinear enclosures on the west side of Holt Forest, which are probably post medieval in origin (2). The features are presumed to be part of a post medieval drainage system.
The site is still fields on current Google Earth imagery but with significant historic boundary removal since 1947 (1). The main drainage channel and some of the subsidiary features are still visible; particularly clear in 2012 (3). They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
