Full Description

The footprint of a possible post medieval farmstead is visible as a cropmark on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The cropmark echoes the footprint of two buildings, an access road and adjacent enclosure or yard, recorded but not named on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The site was demolished and lost somewhere between the late 1880s and 1947 (1). The buildings are considered likely to reflect a settlement or farmstead of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible.

The site is within a large modern enclosure on current Google Earth imagery, which reflects substantial historic boundary loss since the late 19th century. The field is under pasture and the features are no longer visible.

They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
