Full Description

Uddens House and associated garden earthworks and outbuildings are still extant within Uddens Park in 1946 and are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

A 1946 aerial photograph shows the main house and a building to the north, in Stable Copse. A curvilinear banked earthwork enclsoes gardens on the west side of the house whilst lawns to the south of the house may be enclosed by a retaining wall (1). In 1946 the grounds of Uddens House are the site of a World War Two ammunition depot (MDO40923) and it is possible the main house and buildings were requisitioned as part of this site.

The main house and the building to the north are demolished by 1962 (2).

The site is open ground and woodland on current Google Earth imagery; much of any ornamental tree planting appears lost. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
