Full Description

A series of interlinking ditched linear features at Grange are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features are presumed to be a post medieval drainage system with a central curvilinear features possibly having a dual function as a field boundary.

The features occupy the whole of an irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The features are predominantly narrow and rectilinear in form, comprising a series of parallel southwest to northeast aligned linear ditches offsetting and perpendicular to a central curvilinear ditch.

The features are presumed to be a post medieval drainage system with the central curvilinear ditch possibly having a dual function as a field boundary.

The site is still open ground on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still faintly visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
