Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit to the northeast of Stanbridge is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1 and 2).
The feature comprises a shallow irregular depression up to 83m long by up to 71m wide. It is one of a series of extractive pits (MDOs 40873-40877) spread loosely east to west within fields to the northeast of Stanbridge; this being the largest of these (1).
The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
