Full Description

A shallow irregular depression in a field to the north of High Hall is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and on current Lidar imagery (1 and 2).

The feature is situated in the northeast corner of a historic field recorded on the OS 1st Edition map and potentially truncates historic field boundaries (MDO40863) of probable post medieval date. It may be an artificial feature, possibly a post medieval extractive pit, althoughit is also possible it is of natural origin and respected by the field boundaries on either side.

The site is still open ground on current Google Earth imagery and the feature remains faintly visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
